Suitable for larger listening rooms or where high volumes are required, Mercury 7.4’s 44 litre twin-ported cabinet, dual 178mm (7.00”) mid/bass drivers and refined 28mm (1.10”) soft dome tweeter pack a mighty punch.
To further enhance imaging and produce the widest soundstage, the drivers are positioned in a D’Appolito driver configuration. By placing the tweeter centrally between the two bass/mid drivers, the speaker’s dispersion characteristics are smoothed through the critical crossover region resulting in a highly articulate musical performance on or off the loudspeaker’s main axis. This eliminates the traditional ‘sweet spot’ to deliver peak performance across more seats in your listening room.
As befits a flagship of any Tannoy loudspeaker series, the Mercury 7.4 boasts class leading peak power handling at 300 Watts and extremely high 93dB/watt efficiency making it suitable for the broadest range of partnering equipment. Along with the high-current crossover and audiophile grade components, Mercury 7.4 can be driven hard and deliver realistic dynamics, yet remains subtle and refined at everyday listening levels. Its wideband frequency response from 32Hz up to over 32kHz ensures peak performance with standard as well as High Resolution Audio formats to make the Mercury 7 series flagship model a future-proof powerhouse.
Available in walnut, light oak or black oak luxury wood grain effect finish, Mercury7.4 is supplied with half baffle grilles in a dark weave cloth for a harmonious look in any living room. For peak listening performance and a more technically imposing look, the grilles can be removed to show off the D’Appolito driver configuration and exceptional trim detailing in silver and rubberised black with chrome driver bolts and integrated Tannoy badge. Each Mercury 7.4 is supplied with a two-piece plinth to increase stability and improve bass timing, and dual foam port bungs allowing several bass tuning options depending on your room acoustics.
