The Steinberg UR-242 USB Audio Interface is a high quality, portable interface that gives you all the connectivity you need to make music on the go. Designed to be used with either your notebook or iPad, the UR-242 combines high quality parts with advanced onboard DSP powered FX to deliver high quality audio recording.
This 4-in/2-out interface features two D-PRE mic preamps recording at a 192kHz sample rate. These D-Pre mic preamps deliver a truly transparent and beautiful sound that's unrivalled in its class. Along with these, the UR-242 offers a MIDI I/O that allows you to connect a synth, drum trigger module or whatever MIDI device you want. Combining these allows you to record vocals, guitars, and MIDI all at once.
The UR-242 has VST 3 versions of onboard DSP plug-ins. These offer very useful sound shaping and FX tools including, the Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip, the REV-X reverb and Guitar Amp Classics. When using these FX you'll have zero-latency monitoring thanks to the included dspMixFx software. If your streaming performances live to the internet, the UR-242 features a useful loopback function. This merges incoming audio signals to the playback signal from Cubase or other DAWs inside the computer.
Thanks to the Class Compliant mode you can connect the UR-242 to your iPad. Through the Apple Camera Connection Kit you can use many iOS music production apps to lay down some ideas when you're on the go. Then when you at home, connect the same interface to your PC or Mac and take your ideas to the next level.
The UR-242 works with all major music production software, but as you'd expect, it integrates seamlessly with Cubase. When being used with Cubase no additional virtual mixer apps are required, and all aspects of I/O handling and DSP management are handled directly from with-in. If you dont own a copy of Cubae, the UR-242 comes packaged with a free version of Cubase AI.
Both combo XLR/Hi-Z inputs have their own gain controls with PAD buttons, and can be powered with Phantom Power. Volume knobs for both the headphone and Line Outputs give you individual control of your levels, and allow you have a louder phones mix whilst your monitors are slightly quieter. This is great for if you're going from one to the other for reference. All this is housed in a all metal housing that is rugged enough to withstand all the rigors of the road.
