The Rode NTR Active Ribbon Microphone has been specifically designed to occupy the world’s finest recording studios and performance halls as well as smaller studio spaces.
From the very first glance, the NTR gives off a feel of class and professionalism with its acute blend of art & science that combines to produce a unique aesthetic that is sure to become iconic symbol in studios for years to come.
Every element of the NTR, from the transformer to the ribbon element, has been designed and created in-house at Rode’s headquarters in Sydney, Australia and has, for the Rode engineers and designers, been the very definition of a labour of love – Its one and only aim… to simply create the finest ribbon microphones available.
Sonically, the NTR is more than capable of reproducing unprecedented high frequency detail and accuracy, addressing the most common criticisms of other ribbon microphones, and at the same time widening the possible usage scenarios considerably. This allows the NTR to record sources that usually would require a more sensitive microphone element.
The NTR houses one of the thinnest ribbons in existence, measuring in at only 1.8 microns, it has been designed to provide the highest level of sensitivity across the usable frequency response range. Another fantastic detail is the laser-etched element which, unlike the usual procedure of manually cutting out the element which often results in microscopic frays along the edges the will decay over time, the NTR uses a propriety laser technique to cut the NTR ribbon, resulting in a far more precise cut with amazingly smooth edges, increasing its longevity immensely.
The NTR also houses an internal shock mount system that is held secure by a travel screw. This internal shock mount is so effective that it completely eliminates the need for any external shock mount.
In union with the NTRs ribbon element is a high output, ultra-low noise, low impedance transformer that ensures the maximum fidelity between the ribbon motor and the electronics
