The API 312 50th Anniversary Edition is a faithful reproduction of the original 312 microphone preamp used in API consoles from the 1970s. Limited to 50 units, these stunning 500 series modules are built using Saul Walker’s original design and feature limited edition gold faceplate.
CLASSIC TONE
The original 312 is one of API’s most popular mic preamps and was used extensively in their consoles, as well as the highly successful 3124 rack unit. Known for its bright, open, punchy sound, the API 312 has been a go-to preamp for engineers recording drums, rock guitars, bass, vocals and more.
The API 312 50th Anniversary Edition utilizes an exact reproduction of Saul Walker’s original 312 printed circuit board, including the hand-wired gain pot and switches. Equipped with API’s AP2516 Input Transformer, the 312 50th Anniversary Edition will instantly bring any track to life.
EYE-CATCHING DESIGN
Featuring 65 dB of gain and a 20 dB pad switch, the API 312 is capable of withstanding blisteringly high SPLs, making it an excellent choice for heavy-hitting drummers, screaming guitar amps, and particularly emphatic vocalists. Don’t worry though, the peak LED indicator will help keep you from clipping – or intentionally drive signals for added saturation.
The vintage-style analog VU meter pays homage to the golden era of analog recording. The individually serialized, limited production 50th-anniversary faceplate give each unit a sleek, elegant feel.
